IR Archiving and Long-term Preservation

1. Overview

This policy specifies standardized archiving rules, public access embargo requirements, copyright statement specifications and long-term digital preservation standards for all scholarly papers published in Composite Functional Materials (CFM). All deposit activities in this institutional repository shall fully comply with author sharing policies, copyright regulations and international digital long-term preservation standards (OAIS reference model).

This policy aims to realize secure permanent preservation of institutional research outputs, standardized open access dissemination, and full copyright compliance without infringement risks.

2. Definition of three manuscript vrsions

(1) Preprint: Manuscript before peer review, without journal formatting and editorial revision.

(2) Accepted Manuscript (AM): Final peer-reviewed manuscript accepted for publication, without official journal layout, typesetting, logo.

(3) Version of Record (VOR): Final officially published article with complete journal layout, DOI, copyright marks.

3. Official archiving rules for CFM

Composite Functional Materials (CFM) is Gold Fully Open Access Journal.

(1). Allowed manuscript versions: Preprint, Accepted Manuscript and Version of Record (VOR) are all permitted for repository deposit.

(2). Embargo period: No public access embargo. Full-text can be released openly on the institutional repository immediately after official online publication on CFM website.

(3). Copyright & License requirement: All deposited full texts must retain the original Creative Commons license selected by authors during publication (mainly CC BY). The repository shall not modify, replace or revoke any original open access license terms.

(4). Mandatory public statement for repository page: The following fixed statement shall be displayed permanently on each archived article page:

This is the Version of Record published on Composite Functional Materials (CFM). The official authoritative version is available at https://doi.org/[Article DOI]. All reuse must comply with the original CC open access license.

4. Long-term digital preservation mechanism (Dual backup system)

4.1 Publisher-side Permanent Archiving by ISA

All CFM articles are automatically backed up and permanently preserved via trusted third-party dark archive systems authorized by ISA, including HEP Journals, Sciopen. Once the journal stops publication or online access on ISA is interrupted, these independent archival systems will automatically unlock full texts to ensure permanent retrievability of research outputs.

4.2 Institutional repository local permanent preservation

Our institutional repository adopts multi-server offline and online dual backup, regular file format migration, periodic file integrity verification and disaster recovery mechanisms. All deposited manuscripts will be preserved permanently in standardized digital formats, complying with international OAIS long-term preservation specifications.

5. General restrictions & compliance rules

(1) It is forbidden to modify journal layout, watermarks, logos, copyright information and fund statements of original published VOR files;

(2) All deposited articles are only for non-commercial academic open sharing; commercial secondary distribution and resale are strictly prohibited;

(3) All metadata including article title, authors, affiliation, journal information, publication date and DOI shall be completely retained for OAI-PMH metadata harvesting;

(4) Authors shall not upload subscription journal VOR versions to any public open repository to avoid copyright disputes.

6. Policy update

This policy will be updated synchronously according to the latest official sharing and archiving regulations released by ISA. All revisions will take effect automatically after official release without separate notice.
